PKSF’s Managing Director and former Secretary of the Bangladesh Government Dr. Nomita Halder, (ndc) visited WAVE Foundation’s various initiatives in Chuadanga on February 5 and 6, 2024. This visit aimed to evaluate the ongoing projects and inaugurate new ones under the WAVE Foundation’s micro-credit program.
On February 5, Dr. Halder toured the ‘Janata Engineering’ agricultural parts manufacturing factory in Sarojganj Bazar, operated by Micro Enterprise Component-ME member Mr. Waliullah. She looked over the factory’s operations and employment practices, emphasizing the favorable working environment for both men and women. Subsequently, Dr. Halder visited the ‘Probin (Elderly) Tea Stall’ of the Enrich Project in Utholi Union of Jibannagar Upazila and the ‘Probin (Elderly) Social Center’ of Shimanto Union, engaging in discussions with local stakeholders.
During these discussions, Dr. Halder highlighted the societal neglect and discrimination elderly people faced, affirming PKSF’s commitment to improving their quality of life. Later that evening, she met with the social organization ‘Loak Morcha’ representatives at the WAVE Trade Training Center in Darshana. Loak Morcha members shared their extensive experiences in agriculture, education, health, social security, and combating violence against women. Some victims with judicial privileges also voiced their perspectives. Dr. Halder praised WAVE Foundation for its exceptional voluntary work through ‘Loak Morcha (People’s Alliance)’ and acknowledged its recognition by district police, judicial department, and administration. She pledged to organize a study by PKSF to assess the organization’s impact and explore ways to expand its efforts nationally.
The following morning, Dr. Halder inaugurated the ‘Chuadanga Meat’, a meat processing plant under the WAVE’s project. She lauded this initiative as a significant and challenging endeavor. Noting Chuadanga’s reputation for rearing black Bengal goats and other livestock, she emphasized the need for the plant to offer affordable and safe meat products to people from all walks of life. Dr. Halder also graced the inauguration of the ‘Go Green Center’ as the chief guest. Throughout her two-day visit, Dr. Halder was accompanied by designated officials of PKSF.
