A youth workshop titled “Youth Consultation on Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Commitment Development” was held on January 18, 2025, at the head office of WAVE Foundation in Dhaka. Designed to amplify young voices in shaping Bangladesh’s future commitments to improved nutrition and sustainable food systems, the event brought together around 30 enthusiastic participants from various educational institutions across the capital.

Organized by Youth Assembly in collaboration with SUN Youth Network Bangladesh and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), this workshop focused on two key themes—climate and sustainable food systems, and nutrition and crisis resilience. Through vibrant discussions and group activities, youth offered innovative recommendations, emphasizing the need for youth-led initiatives, climate-smart agriculture, supportive policies, and stronger public-private collaboration.

Kazi Md. Obaidul Haque, Program Officer of the SUN Secretariat at the World Health Organization, attended the event as a distinguished guest. He emphasized the importance of youth engagement and their active role in policy-making. Following the discussion, Sumaiya Akter and Ashab Al Yamin of the SUN Youth Network facilitated a workshop session where participants were asked to share their views on what elements could support Bangladesh’s contributions to the upcoming N4G Summit in Paris in 2025.

The participating youths were divided into four groups, each providing insights and recommendations on specific themes. Regarding food insecurity, they highlighted the need for proper planning and policy reforms to address poverty and food shortages. On food systems and climate change, they discussed climate-resilient agricultural technologies and sustainable food production strategies. When discussing smart agriculture, the emphasis was on using advanced farming technologies and involving young entrepreneurs in agriculture. Additionally, concerning emergency food systems, the participants proposed ideas for effective plans to ensure rapid food assistance during disasters.

Since 2013, N4G has been working globally to combat malnutrition through partnerships and fundraising. Bangladesh has consistently contributed to the N4G summits, where health, food systems, and resilience have been central themes. The upcoming N4G Summit, to be held in Paris, France on March 27–28, 2025, aims to present strong and effective commitments based on the consultations, focusing on six thematic areas, including climate, sustainable food systems, and nutrition and crisis resilience.
