The Youth Green Entrepreneurship Development Project, implemented by WAVE Foundation with support from British Council, is inspiring rural youth to embrace sustainable innovation through dynamic orientation and community engagement events in Chuadanga. The project is being implemented across the upazilas of Chuadanga, Jhenaidah Sadar and Meherpur Sadar. Its aims to train 510 young individuals as green entrepreneurs, enabling them to undertake environmentally friendly business ventures, generate employment and contribute to sustainable development. Under the project, participants receive training, mentorship, and other supports to build their entrepreneurial and climate-responsive skills.

From 16 September 2025, a series of Community-Based Activation Meetings convened youth organizers, students, community representatives and key stakeholders to discuss opportunities in green entrepreneurship, including climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy, waste-to-resource ventures, and other emerging sectors. A subsequent Project Inception at WAVE Training Centre highlighted how training, mentorship, and community-driven initiatives can equip youth to establish sustainable businesses with lasting impact, with Chuadanga Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zohirul Islam attending as Chief Guest. Both events attracted diverse participants from academia, local government, civil society, and youth groups, reflecting a shared commitment to nurturing environmentally conscious entrepreneurship.

Through these engagements, the project not only enhances participants’ technical knowledge and leadership skills but also cultivates a spirit of innovation and collaboration among rural youth. By providing access to mentorship, training and community activation platforms, the initiative empowers young people to launch environmentally responsible business ventures that can generate employment, stimulate local economies, and address climate challenges.

The Youth Green Entrepreneurship Development Project holds significant potential to create a generation of skilled, green-minded entrepreneurs who can drive sustainable development, strengthen resilience in the targeted districts and serve as role models for youth-led climate action across rural Bangladesh.
