The official inauguration of ‘Go Green Center’ was held at Koshaghata under Damurhuda Upazila of Chuadanga district on February 6, 2024. The Center initially known as the ‘The Centre for Development and Capacity-CDC,’ was established in 2010, located 5 km away from Chuadanga district. Over the years, it has focused on advancing agriculture, including crops, livestock, and fisheries. The center was developed under WAVE’s Agriculture Program which started with farms and demonstration plots. The inauguration was graced by PKSF’s Managing Director and former Secretary of the Bangladesh Government Dr. Nomita Halder, (ndc) who attended as the chief guest while Mohsin Ali, Founder and Executive Director of WAVE Foundation presided over the event.
Go Green Center is a part of “Go Green” program and movement spearheaded by WAVE Foundation and its affiliated Youth Assembly that urges individuals, families, societies/communities, and institutions to adopt a “Green Lifestyle.” The Center is established on 10 acres of land, has been pivotal in field-level experiments, agricultural product-based clusters under Integrated Agriculture Unit (Crops, Livestock, and Fisheries), black bengal goat breeding farm, fish farm, dumba breeding farm, vegetable demonstration plots, seed storage and building agricultural entrepreneurs. Renamed as ‘Go Green Center’, the initiative aims to enhance activities such as training in agroecology, skill development, value addition, and new initiatives ensuring better coordination and management.
New initiatives of GO GREEN Center
– Conducting action research on the opportunities and challenges that prevail in various subsectors of ‘Agroecology and Safe Food’ production.
– Establishing an “Agroecology Learning Center” to support people in comprehending and applying agroecology concepts in real-world situations.
– Enhancing stakeholders’ skills in value addition for products produced by agri-entrepreneurs, and establishing platforms for product storage, processing, and marketing where applicable.
– Developing a local-level ‘Agro-tourism’ system to display diverse agricultural practices, the national history (Mujibnagar Memorial Complex), and local traditions.
