Climate-resilient toilets and bathing facilities are designed to remain functional during adverse weather conditions such as floods and droughts, ensuring a safe, hygienic and sustainable environment. These systems include climate-resilient water supply mechanisms, rainwater harvesting solutions and secure waste management processes. As part of the “Pathways to Prosperity for Extremely Poor People- European Union (PPEPP-EU) project”, WAVE has installed climate-resilient toilets and bathing facilities across four unions in its working area in Galachipa Upazila of Patuakhali District. Alongside infrastructure support, regular group discussions are held to raise awareness of proper toilet use, hygiene practices and maintenance responsibilities. These sessions encourage positive behaviour change within the community, promoting habits such as using sandals instead of going barefoot to the toilet, ensuring regular cleaning and adopting preventive health practices to reduce disease risks. The initiative has a profound impact on women, promoting improved health, safety and empowerment throughout the project area. Through these efforts, WAVE continues to advance climate-resilient WASH solutions, strengthening community resilience and promoting healthier, safer living environments for vulnerable coastal populations.
