WAVE’s youth platform ‘Youth Assembly’ celebrated ‘International Youth Day 2025’ under the inspiring theme ‘Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond’ on August 14, 2025, bringing together passionate youth leaders from various communities and institutions. The event was inaugurated by the visionary Mr. Mohsin Ali, Founder and Executive Director of WAVE Foundation.

The celebration began with a powerful focus on the day’s theme. Ms. Nazma Sultana, Deputy Director of WAVE Foundation and Advisor to Youth Assembly, delivered a welcome speech that connected participants emotionally with the theme, emphasizing the vital role of youth actions in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while confronting life’s real challenges.  Following this, a session titled ‘Flashback: Youth Assembly in Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond’ featured an impactful video documentary, where participants shared inspiring stories of volunteerism and community involvement, illustrating how WAVE and Youth Assembly have empowered them to voice their advocacy.

In a pre-event activity, participants wrote freehand letters expressing their dreams for the future of Bangladesh in a segment called ‘Amar Chokhe Agamir Bangladesh/Future Bangladesh in My Vision.’ This reflective exercise became a canvas for youth to articulate their aspirations for a sustainable and progressive Bangladesh, shining a light on quality education, climate resilience, gender equality, and good governance. The three most outstanding letters were celebrated with tokens of appreciation from Mr. Mohsin Ali and Ms. Nasefa Ali, Deputy Executive Director of the WAVE Foundation, who underscored the significance of youth perspectives in shaping the nation’s bright future.

Another engaging segment, ‘We Are the Global Voice,’ encouraged participants to select a circuit representing a specific SDG. They collaborated in peer groups to craft impactful recommendations addressing both local and global issues, role-playing as parliament members or UN representatives to amplify their voices.

Overall, the event was a platform for reflection, dialogue, and action representing that young people are not just future leaders, they are already making meaningful changes today.
