On 18 October 2025, a landmark initiative to promote sustainable agriculture was undertaken in Joyrampur, Chuadanga with the inauguration of an organic compost fertilizer plant boasting an annual production capacity of 1,550 tons. The establishment of this plant has been made possible through the financial and technical support of the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) and the dedicated implementation of WAVE Foundation.

The inauguration ceremony was led by the esteemed Founder and Executive Director of WAVE Foundation, Mr. Mohsin Ali who formally opened the facility as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized the irreplaceable role of organic fertilizers in preserving soil health. He cautioned that the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers is steadily degrading soil fertility, warning that if such practices continue, “within a few years, the soil may become paralyzed, making cultivation extremely challenging and costly.” He urged all stakeholders to adopt environmentally responsible farming practices and to expand the use of organic fertilizers to restore ecological balance.

The newly inaugurated Revon Organic Compost Fertilizer Plant has been established with financial and technical assistance from WAVE Foundation under its RMTP project. The plant is owned and operated by three young entrepreneurs- Anwarul Haque, Sajib and Momin who envision producing 300 to 350 tons of organic fertilizer every month. The market price per ton is estimated at BDT 7,000 with demand rising rapidly as farmers across the region increasingly recognize the importance of organic alternatives for long-term soil health.

Furthermore, major agro-based companies in Bangladesh are now sourcing organic fertilizers from various plants in Chuadanga, rebranding them and distributing them nationwide. This expanding market opportunity indicates strong potential for more organic fertilizer plants to be established, contributing both to local entrepreneurship and to the broader national agenda for sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture. This initiative marks a significant milestone in promoting green growth, empowering rural youth entrepreneurship and ensuring a sustainable, soil-friendly agricultural trajectory.
