Born into persistent poverty in Ghoshbila village of Alamdangha Upazila, Chuadanga, Wazed Ali refused to surrender to circumstances and instead searched for opportunity within difficulty. At just 18, financial pressure forced him to leave formal education and turn to agriculture, despite his parents’ wishes. With only 28 decimals of ancestral land and little experience, his early efforts brought limited returns.

A turning point came when, guided by a local mentor, he ventured into cattle rearing by purchasing two cows. Within a year, he earned around BDT 100,000 in profit, exploding his confidence and ambition. By 2021, he expanded to five cows and began envisioning cattle fattening as a sustainable business. Recognizing the need for capital and technical guidance, Wazed Ali approached WAVE Foundation’s Alamdangha unit. On 27 January 2025, under the “Agrasar” project, he received his first loan of BDT 600,000, which enabled him to invest strategically in cattle fattening. Within six months, his business began generating steady profits through regular sales in local markets. Encouraged by his progress, WAVE provided a second loan of BDT 3,000,000 on 27 October 2025, allowing him to scale up operations further.

Today, Wazed manages a farm with around 24 cows, employs a local worker, and sells 12–15 cows annually, earning a net profit of nearly BDT 500,000. Alongside financial support, WAVE’s modern training in cattle rearing strengthened his management skills and productivity. Wazed reflected on his journey, saying, “I began with almost nothing, but now I am creating something that will endure for my family and community.”

Beyond personal success, Wazed contributes to his community by creating local employment, sharing knowledge with aspiring farmers, and inspiring rural youth to pursue entrepreneurship. Leaving poverty behind, he now dreams of expanding his business and he now looks ahead with confidence, determined to build a larger farm and uplift those around him.
