On 8 October 2025, a comprehensive daylong training on “Climate Vulnerability and Environmental Management” was conducted at the Damurhuda Koshaghata Go Green Centre under the Sustainable Microenterprise and Resilient Transformation (SMART) project. The initiative implemented by WAVE Foundation with financial support from the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) and the World Bank brought together emerging fruit-farming entrepreneurs from Chuadanga district for an intensive and knowledge-enriching session. The participants received in-depth insights into the multifaceted impacts of climate change, major causes of environmental pollution, mitigation measures and eco-friendly organic approaches to sustainable fruit cultivation.
A total of 24 participants including 19 male and 5 female fruit-farming entrepreneurs took part in the training. Throughout the sessions, participants engaged in vibrant open discussions, reflecting on both the challenges and emerging opportunities in fruit cultivation within Chuadanga. They highlighted critical concerns including fluctuating weather patterns, soil degradation, pest prevalence and market uncertainties. At the same time, they expressed optimism about the district’s potential to expand climate-adaptive fruit farming particularly through improved technical guidance and sustainable production methods.
Entrepreneurs also articulated the need for extended support from both government and non-government entities, emphasizing access to quality inputs, modern cultivation techniques and market linkage opportunities. Their feedback underscored a shared commitment to strengthening local agricultural resilience while advancing environmentally responsible farming practices. Through this training, the SMART project not only enhanced the technical and environmental awareness of rural agripreneurs but also strengthened its broader mission of enhancing climate resilience, advancing sustainable microenterprise growth and empowering local communities to adapt proactively to an evolving environmental landscape.
