Agriculture is not just a source of livelihood, it also shapes our future. Without ensuring sustainable agriculture, both food security and environmental protection will be at risk. In light of this reality, two new projects were officially introduced under ‘Go Green’ program of WAVE Foundation. On Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 3 PM, an inception meeting was held at the ‘Go Green Center’ in Koshaghata, Chuadanga, bringing together farmers, policymakers, government officials,  agricultural experts and journalists to discuss the future potential of these initiatives. These projects aim to advance modern agricultural technology, safe food production, and eco-friendly farming practices.

The ‘Promotion of Value Added Fruits for Sustainable Growth and Instituting RECP Practices’ project will help farmers adopt modern technology and improve their skills. This initiative will reduce production costs, increase yields, and promote sustainable agriculture by minimizing excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, encouraging organic fertilizers, and implementing advanced irrigation systems. On the other hand, the ‘Establishment of Agro-ecological Learning Center to Expand Eco-Friendly and Safe Food Production Systems ‘ project will serve as a training center for farmers. Through research, training, and extension activities, it will develop a new generation of agricultural experts. Farmers will have the opportunity to learn about modern farming techniques, safe food production, and agroecological management, which will play a crucial role in ensuring national food security and environmental conservation.

Chuadanga District Commissioner Mohammad Zahirul Islam attended as the chief guest of the event. He stated, “Modernizing agriculture will not only improve farmers’ living standards but also strengthen the local economy. By adopting technology-driven farming systems, farmers can enhance their profitability.” The former chairman of WAVE Foundation, Professor Siddiqur Rahman presided over the event. He said, “The integration of sustainable farming practices, safe food production, and eco-friendly technologies is essential to strengthening the future of agriculture.” The founder and executive director of WAVE Foundation, Mohsin Ali, emphasized, “We will ensure necessary training and technical support at the grassroots level so that farmers can produce more at lower costs and become interested in agroecology farming.”

Among the special guests were Khandaker Golam Mowla, Superintendent of Police of Chuadanga, and Tithi Mitra, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Damurhuda Upazila. They highlighted the importance of partnerships between government and private organizations and stressed the need for ensuring training and technical assistance for farmers. Other notable attendees included Nilima Aktar Happy (Livestock Officer, Damurhuda Upazila), Debashish Kumar Das (Additional Deputy Director, Department of Agricultural Extension – Horticulture), Md. Humayun Kabir, Azad Malitha, Rajib Hasan Kochi, Advocate Manik Akbar, Shah Alam Soni, and several other distinguished individuals. They emphasized on farmer empowerment, the use of modern technology, market connections, and sustainable farming practices. The event featured welcome remarks by Johir Rayhan, Deputy Director of WAVE Foundation. A detailed project overview was presented by Assistant Director Nirmal Das, while the overall upcoming activities of the ‘Go Green Center’ under Go Green program were outlined by Deputy Director Nazma Sultana Lily. The event was moderated by Kamruzzaman Juddho, Senior Coordinator of Go Green Center.

These two new initiatives by WAVE Foundation are not just for the benefit of farmers but also represent a significant step forward for the entire agricultural sector. With proper planning and implementation, these projects will play a key role in transforming the agricultural system into a sustainable model.
