Celebrating 35th Anniversary of WAVE Foundation
With the commitment to establishing a just and prosperous society, WAVE Foundation celebrated a proud milestone of its remarkable journey—35th anniversary. Over this long period, organization has achieved success, and at the same time, earned people’s love, dedication of employees and trust of society. Honouring the dreams, struggles, and courage that shaped our organisation’s path since its inception in 1990, this day was crafted with touch of love, gratitude, and enthusiasm, celebrating present achievements and embracing future possibilities. Besides Head Office, WAVE celebrated its 35th anniversary across its base office, in 10 regions, 28 areas, 144 units, 43 project offices, Go Green Center and Capacity Development Hubs.
On the morning of anniversary, head office premises were adorned in a festive look. Every corner became lively with banners, festoons, and colourful decorations. All staff also immersed themselves in festive spirit, expressing joy of celebration through their attire and arrangements. Mr. Mohsin Ali, Founder and Executive Director of WAVE Foundation, inaugurated the event at 12 pm by unveiling the ‘Timeline Wall’. This special arrangement was a living history—a photographic presentation of every significant moment from birth of WAVE Foundation to present time. By witnessing old photos, documents, and rare moments from past, many were reminded of their first working day, a field-level experience, or day of achieving a milestone. In his speech, Executive Director expressed gratitude to all, pride in achievements, and a strong commitment to future, “WAVE Foundation is not just an organization, it’s a movement — dedicated to justice, equality, human rights, and good governance. In this 35-year journey, we have moved forward with one goal—standing beside people, empowering them. Today’s celebration is a symbol of that sense of responsibility. I am grateful to all colleagues, well-wishers, and partners, whose tireless efforts and cooperation have brought WAVE to this height. We will carry our organization forward with responsibility and human values.”
Next to the ‘Timeline Wall’ was a vibrant wall magazine, ‘Colleagues in Action’ —colourful collages featuring humorous and lively moments of colleagues, which spread warmth among everyone. After lunch, the cultural event was a most exciting and multifaceted arrangement of the day. This cultural program was not just a series of performances – it was an expression of the soul of an organizational family, a cultural translation of a dream journey. The event was arranged with participation of members of WAVE family, who represented not only their professional skills but also their creativity. It was a unique stage, where expressions of patriotism, humanity, courage, love, culture, and joy came to life. The program began with National Anthem. Everyone was captivated by the musical performances featuring Bengali modern, patriotic, and folk songs. A special song titled “O Alor Pothojatri (O seeker of light)” became a symbol of an enthusiastic journey. The recitation segment included diverse literary poems – revolutionary, progressive, humorous, and satirical – conveyed messages of humanity, struggle, and hope. There were also comedy performances. Then followed fashion show, rich in diversity, with participation of different generations. It became a complementary expression of all generations together.
The dance performances reflected our cultural touch—an impressive blend of pure traditional and contemporary rhythms. In rhythm of dance, employees celebrated the joy of 35 years of success and bonding. This part was filled with energy and enthusiasm. The premises had a fair-like atmosphere, with stalls of chotpoti, fuchka, watermelon, candy floss, and sweets. Alongside was a games corner, where games like balloon shooting and other exciting activities took all back to childhood.
In the evening, day-long festival concluded with a warm and inspiring speech by Deputy Executive Director Nasifa Ali. She thanked everyone in WAVE family and gave a glimpse into future plans, “This celebration is not just of a single day, it is a profound expression of 35 years of memories, struggles, dreams, and successes. We will not stop. Our journey will continue in the direction of a just and prosperous society.”
