Join us in celebrating the resilience and determination of an extraordinary individual, Golam Quddus. Despite facing physical challenges since birth, Quddus has never let his disabilities hold him back. He is an inspiring figure from the village of Utholi Union in Jibannagar Upazilla, Chuadanga. Growing up in a poor family that worked on farms, he always dreamed of achieving success through hard work. Unfortunately, due to his physical limitations, higher studies were not an option for him. Yet, as he grew older, Quddus refused to let his circumstances define his future. He decided to take matters into his own hands and started his own small business.
With just BDT 10 thousand, Quddus had a dream of opening a small tea shop beside his own house. His hardworking nature and friendly personality made him a favorite among the senior citizens of his locality. Recognizing his potential, they suggested he apply for the ‘Senior People’s Quality of Life Development Programme’ of WAVE Foundation supported by the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF). This program aims to help individuals like Quddus overcome challenges and achieve their dreams. With the additional funds from the project Quddus planned to develop his business and make his dream a reality.
Imagine transforming a simple tea shop into a thriving community gathering place. That’s exactly what Quddus did! With some smart investments and a lot of hard work, Quddus turned his humble tea shop into a bustling hangout spot. He invested his savings in new equipment like tins, bamboo, a stove, and cups, and soon enough, his shop became the talk of the town. People come from all over to chat, share a cup of tea, and enjoy each other’s company. And the best part? Quddus’ business is booming! He pulls in an impressive BDT 3 to 3.5 thousand daily and pockets around 1000 to 1200 BDT in profit after expenses. With his savings, Quddus recently invested in some land, and now his property, including his shop, is worth a whopping BDT 10 lakh. It’s incredible what a little hard work and determination can do!
Despite the obstacles he encountered due to his physical disability, he never wavered in his pursuit of his dreams. Quddus’ resilience is truly admirable and serves as a source of hope and encouragement to those who may be facing similar challenges. His story reminds us that with determination and perseverance, anything is possible.
